Junior Designer

Salary: £150 per day (dependent on experience)

Job Description:

Lost in Cult is an award winning publisher, focusing on celebrating and documenting video games as a culturally significant art form. We are intentionally curative in our approach, working with exceptional brands known for pushing the medium of games forward, with artistic qualities that allow for exquisite art books and vinyls to be made. From our quarterly publication, [lock-on], to our Design Works series, we celebrate the very best of the video games industry through carefully crafted written word and thoughtful, creative design.

You would be an integral part of a small and friendly design team, responsible for bringing our books and journal to life.

You should be:

• Someone who has worked as a graphic designer before
• Enthusiastic about editorial design
• Experience working in Adobe suite, especially indesign
• An enthusiastic problem solver
• Organised and diligent in documenting your work
• Curious to learn new skills
• Excited to work with and learn from senior design team members
• Confident in presenting and talking about your ideas
• Happy to take on board feedback and work in a collaborative manner
• Curious to learn about the printing and manufacturing processes

*Whilst it’s not essential that you be an avid gamer, an appreciation of video games as an art form and an enthusiasm to learn about them would be appreciated.

You will be:

• Helping to develop packaging and design concepts for our books
• Curating and organising visual content for our books
• Working with our marketing team to develop assets for our campaigns
• Laying out long form editorial projects
• Supporting the senior design team members
• Preparing and sending artwork to print
• Retouching images for books
• Designing pitch decks to share with game developers
• Encompassing the values that underpin all we do at Lost In Cult
