We are Spotted Zebra, a series A funded HR tech startup that helps the worlds leading employers align people with opportunities based on skills. Our clients include Disney, Lloyds Banking Group, Merlin Entertainment, and others, who use our products in 14 countries from the US to Europe to Asia.

We work remote-first, and many of the team are based in and around London.

 

Contract overview

We’re currently looking for a mid-senior level design contractor to help us bring our brand to life at a high standard across all departments.

We expect a workload of around 10 working days on average per month for the foreseeable future, and are looking to find a consistent partner for the coming months.

We have a backlog of interesting work ready to begin immediately.

 

Details

A focus will be to partner with Marketing as we’re going through a brand refresh and establish templates for material from social channels, our website to customer events. With your expertise you will also help our Customer Success team and our Product team create clear and aesthetic training and enablement artefacts for our users, and support our Sales team in their effort to win new clients. And lastly there’ll be moments where you get to work with our People & Talent team on job posts as well as our internal employee experience.

You will work directly with our Head of Design, as well as with Heads of key departments for specific projects and tasks.

As the first specialised Communication Designer, you’ll be able to impact the continuous development of our visual brand and how we bring it to life day to day, and you get the opportunity to help establish the Communication Design practice and related ways of working across Spotted Zebra.

 

Key skills and responsibilities

Visual / graphic design

  • You are able to create artefacts that are creative, aesthetically pleasing and a great fit for target audience.
  • You’re able to pick up our brand and look & feel, apply it to a wide range of artefacts and use cases, and develop it further it under the guidance of our Head of Marketing and Head of Design. The focus will be on digital artefact templates including presentations/ decks, social posts, website content, infographics.
  • Occasionally you will design physical artefacts too, such as branded merchandise for events or employees, business cards etc.

Branding

  • You understand brand strategy and have the ability to turn ours into effective design concepts and ideas.
  • You’re able to form an understanding of our audience of buyers, users, and employees, and use this to shape artefacts, memorable messages and creative visuals that best connect with each of these groups.
  • Copywriting skills are beneficial.

Collaboration

  • You can identify requirements with non-design colleagues and shape successful briefs for your tasks that ensure alignment on the goal.
  • You present and argue for design proposals as a design expert within a multi-functional project team.

Organisation

  • You can manage tasks across multiple departments, while provided with a set of priorities.
  • You set up templates and helpful documentation based on brand guidelines, to help scale the impact of design by enabling others to create design artefacts with a degree of independence. 
  • You ensure quality and consistency in your work, and the work of colleagues working with design templates.
